Ride 06
This expedition on horseback puts you in touch with nature: riding through mountain rainforest and open valleys, climbing to the mountain tops to ride across the high-altitude grasslands, following the trails of Güemes' gauchos and learning the history of General Güemes and the War of Independence.
On this ride we want you to discover what authentic feels like, immersing yourself in nature as well as in the gaucho culture of northern Argentina and the history of Güemes' gauchos.

We meet at Finca La Quesera, where we prepare all the horses to begin the expedition. We load the saddlebags and personal luggage for the ride and set off across the La Quesera Valley towards the La Cruz Valley, where we visit Finca La Cruz, the headquarters of Güemes' gauchos during the War of Independence and a museum today. We ride on across the La Cruz Valley, climbing the hills along the trails up to the Sierras del Alto el Rastrojo, where we camp for the night alongside the local gauchos.
After breaking camp and having breakfast, we saddle the horses and continue, descending through the mountain rainforest along the Siete Cañadas towards the Chamical Valley, where we visit the chapel in which General Martín Miguel de Güemes was buried. After lunch we ride on across the Chamical Valley towards the Quebrada de los Guachos, following the trail that crosses it until we reach the Hacho outpost, where we camp for the night.
After breakfast we prepare the horses for the last day of riding. We ride through the gorge along the trails to climb back up to the La Quesera Valley, where the expedition ends in the late afternoon. After a few mates, we get ready for the journey back to the city of Salta.
